The regulator reports that this increase is primarily due to the faster than expected increase in prices for raw food products, as well as the continued increased influence of administrative factors. At the same time, the fundamental inflationary pressures remained moderate, in general, meeting our expectations, the NBU explained, adding that the core inflation in June accelerated to 6.8% in the annual measurement and in the monthly measurement was 0.2%.

The Central Bank also explained that this acceleration of core inflation is explained by the growth in tariffs for services for maintaining houses and local areas at high rates, as well as the impact of secondary effects on higher prices for raw products.

At the same time, the reduction in inflation expectations against the background of the appreciation of the hryvnia kept prices of imported goods virtually unchanged and contributed to a slowdown in the growth of prices for clothing and footwear, the National Bank said, adding that the rise in prices for raw food products was expected to accelerate further, Expectations of the NBU.

In addition, the annual growth in meat and milk prices continued to accelerate due to higher world prices and significant export volumes.

At the same time, the National Bank expects that a significant part of these effects will be eliminated in the second half of the year. However, the current dynamics of inflation and its components indicate further strengthening of risks to achieve the goal of overall inflation at the end of 2017.
