Voryo Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuyvashev and Chairman of the Board of the company Inter RAO Boris Kovalchuk on June 21 launched a combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 420 MW (PGU-420) at the site of Verkhnetagilskaya GRES. The commissioning of a new power unit will improve the economic and environmental performance, as well as the reliability of the station. And Industry Minister Sergei Perestoronin and CEO of Inter RAO-UEG Timur Lipatov signed the first special investment contract in the Sverdlovsk Region. According to the document, the investor undertakes to further develop the Verkhnetagilskaya GRES, introduce new technologies and improve the environmental situation. The regional government, in turn, guarantees the investor tax benefits for a five-year contract period.
"Now very important is starting - the operational phase. With the launch of the unit, the station will reach its designed capacity. Thus, the volume of products produced by 2022 will increase in monetary terms by 1.8 times - and will amount to 6.8 billion rubles. The implementation of a serious environmental program will continue. That is why we decided to give this investment project priority status, which will allow the company to work in a tax-favorable regime, "said Evgeny Kuyvashev.
The power unit put into operation will replace the worn-out coal equipment of the first four lines of the station, decommissioned in 2016 and early 2017. The main equipment of the CCGT-420 includes a gas turbine and a Siemens generator, a steam turbine with a generator of the "Power Machines" production and a three-pressure boiler-recycler from the Russian manufacturer "IK ZIOMAR". The project invested more than 22 billion rubles from the funds of JSC "Inter RAO - Electric Generation". Construction was carried out in March 2013. It should be noted that the company assumed obligations to construct a 420 MW CCGT unit. But thanks to the efforts of engineering companies, suppliers of equipment and personnel of Verkhnetagilskaya GRES, the power unit received an additional capacity of 27 megawatts.
"The commissioning of the modern combined-cycle power unit of Verkhnetagilskaya GRES is aimed at replacing the non-environmentally sound and exhausted equipment of the plant and maintaining reliable energy supplies to the region's consumers, many of whom are representatives of large-scale industry. The technical strengthening of the power plant is another step of Inter RAO in the way of developing the group's generating business through the introduction of innovations and increasing environmental efficiency, "said Boris Kovalchuk,.
He added that the strategy of "Inter RAO" provides for the construction of new facilities in place of worn out equipment in those regions where the company receives support from the regional authorities.

According Kuyvashev, the launch of a new power unit of the station will give impetus to the implementation of new investment projects in Verkhny Tagil. The Chairman of the Board of "Inter RAO" confirmed the existence of plans for the construction of new facilities here, which will not only ensure the reliability of the station, but also preserve all social obligations of the company.
