Deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia submitted to the State Duma of the bill, which proposes to approve the imperial "God Save the Tsar," as the national anthem of the Russian Federation, follows from the database of documents of the lower house of parliament.
The hymn "God Save the Tsar!" Was approved by the decree of Emperor Nicholas I of 1834 and was applied until the fall of the monarchy in February 1917, reminded the initiators of the bill.
"This draft federal constitutional law proposes to approve a new national anthem of the Russian Federation" God save the Tsar! ", - the explanatory note says..
As the authors of the bill note, the current national anthem "Russia is our sacred power" is an original music and a revised text of the Soviet national anthem, which, in their opinion, has never become a symbol uniting the majority of Russian citizens.
"Despite the fact that the modern anthem is deeply respected by many Russians, it is the imperial hymn that is the pride of glorious victories and symbolizes a great country with a great history," says an explanatory note.
Deputies believe that the approval of the new national anthem will allow to achieve historical continuity, honor and remember more than a thousand-year history of Russia, including both monarchic and Soviet periods.
"The approval of the federal constitutional law will revive the historical Russian state symbols, increase its significance, further strengthen the unity of the people and all-Russian civil self-consciousness, will lead to an increase in the patriotic mood of Russian citizens, will restore the traditions of the past centuries and further strengthen the international positions of the Russian Federation," note Parliamentarians.
