Such production orders for the domestic industry will be an important step on the way to strengthening the reputation of India as a major nuclear energy producer. Now India operates 22 reactors with a capacity of 6780 megawatts.
At the moment, reactors are being built at a further 6700 megawatts, they should be launched in 2021-2022.
It is worth noting that in India at the moment about 70 percent of electricity production is provided by thermal power plants that operate mainly on coal.
By the way, by 2021-2022 it is planned to launch reactors with a total capacity of 6,700 megawatts, which are currently under construction.
