As a result of the first quarter of 2017, solvent banks received UAH 5.09 billion of net profit.
As the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine informs, the banking system worked profitable in each of three months. So, in January net profit amounted to 0.36 billion UAH, in February - 3.49 billion UAH, in March - 1.24 billion UAH.
"The banking system of Ukraine has been profitable for three months in a row for the first time since the pre-crisis 2013. Today it can be stated that significant upheavals of the previous three years have been left behind and the banking system is recovering.
Entering profitable activities will promote the resumption of active lending to the real sector of the economy, "commented Ekaterina Rozhkova, deputy head of the NBU.
According to the NBU, out of 92 solvent banks as of April 1, 2017, 72 in the first quarter were profitable and received a net profit of 6.87 billion UAH, 20 banks - are unprofitable with an aggregate net loss of 1.78 billion UAH.
For the first quarter of last year, the banking system received a net loss of UAH 8.01 billion.
