The international operator of money transfers Western Union from today, May 5, stopped transferring money from Russia to Ukraine without opening a bank account, they write "Vedomosti".

The reason for the Western Union's adoption of such a decision was the law on financial sanctions, adopted by the Russian government, on prohibiting transfers to other states through foreign payment systems.

The law enters into force on May 5.

According to the law, if a foreign state prohibits Russian payment systems, cross-border money transfers without opening a bank account within payment systems, including foreign ones, will be possible from Russia to such a state only on condition that the payment system operator, payment service operators Infrastructure directly or indirectly controlled by the Russian Federation.

The Central Bank of Russia will have to place on its official website information about the introduction by foreign countries of prohibitions on payment systems, the operators of which are registered with the central bank.
