This is reported by the Turkmen service of Radio Liberty "Azatlyk".

According to the employees of the state concern Turkmenneft and Turkmengaz, during the last three days the heads of almost all state institutions of the city of Balkanabat conduct meetings with employees, demanding the urgent installation of devices for measuring the volume of water consumed.

Measures to install water meters in the Balkans region of the country, undertaken by regional authorities, were preceded by the instruction of the President of Turkmenistan "to introduce modern energy saving technologies and blue-fuel consumption accounting systems that meet international standards in the production and social sectors".

According to reports from the Balkanabat, some heads of state institutions and enterprises told their employees that in order to speed up the installation of water meters, they will be able to leave work 2-3 hours before the end of the working day.

"We buy meters at the price of 105-110 manats. Then, they should receive a confirmation in the housing administration for the living space. With this certificate and counters, you must go to the state standards agency and seal them. In addition, you need to get there a certificate of quality. Having collected all these documents - confirmation, certificate, and counters, you can apply to the city water service and register water meters and pay 30 manat, install it at home, "said Azatlyk, on condition of anonymity, employee of the state concern Turkmennebit.

According to him, the management's requirement is not limited to installing meters, employees are required to photograph the installed devices and, together with the documents collected for the installation of equipment, to provide the employer.

"Only after this, the employees of the enterprises are no longer invited to the daily meetings on the installation of water meters. But the installation of meters does not solve the problem of water supply. The city of Balkanabat not only in western Turkmenistan, but throughout the country is the most problematic. Instead of wasting time installing meters, it would be better to solve the problem of providing water, "said the interlocutor of Radio Azatlyk.

The Turkmen leadership says that water, gas and electricity to the population of the country are provided free of charge.

In turn, the population of the country does not have the opportunity to fully enjoy the benefits provided by the state. In many settlements of the country the water supply system, the natural gas supply system is faulty or not provided for.

Often the local population is forced to bring water from canals and other water bodies. For many, transportation costs are not available.

Also, in the country there is a limit on free water and electricity. According to the decree of 2015 for each person on registration, free of charge up to 250 liters of water per day. The water consumption above the specified rate is paid at a set tariff.

The amount of free electricity provided in the country per capita is 35 kilowatts per day.
