Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said this at a government meeting.

The money will be paid to those who, in the past heating season, have saved gas and electricity (for heat production).

"We promised to introduce monetization of subsidy savings. So now we are taking one of the first decisions on monetization. According to our estimates, about 1.5 million Ukrainian families that were able to save gas and electricity for heat, will receive in the near future up to 700 hryvnia in cash, "said Groisman, quoted by the Left Bank.

Vice Prime Minister Pavel Rozenko later specified that this is a one-time payment, which will be received before September 1, 2017.

"This is a pilot project. We signal to people that they need to save electricity and gas. Then he will move on. If this experiment is successful, then I do not rule out that next season we will expand the monetization program of the balances, "he said..

According to him, the money will be received by those citizens who have not chosen the whole rate of subsidies.

Recall, earlier this month Groisman said that the first stage of monetization of benefits and housing subsidies, which provides for the introduction of cash instead of clearing at the level of enterprises teplokommunenergo, will be possible already in 2017. But full monetization of subsidies for household consumers is a prospect of several years.

Ukraine committed itself to the International Monetary Fund by the end of August 2017 to monetize housing subsidies and benefits so that private gas traders could compete with the National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine in gas deliveries to the population.
