Ukrainians may require compensation for forced labor: new categories have appeared in the damage register

In Ukraine, they expanded the list of categories by which Ukrainians can submit applications to the international register of losses and demand compensation for damage caused by war from Russia. Now applications will be registered in connection, in particular, with damage or destruction of non -residential real estate, as well as forced labor.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal. He noted: statements can be submitted through DI.

In the future, the register will accept applications for more than 40 categories of losses. In particular, regarding the death of people, torture, sexual violence, bodily harm, forced movement and relocation, loss of property and income, damage to critical infrastructure and other state objects, as well as damage caused by historical and cultural heritage and the environment.

The International Damage Register was created in 2023 under the auspices of the Council of Europe, and the EU and 43 other countries joined it, including the USA, Japan and Canada. The main goal of the registry is to fix all statements about the dangers caused by the war, so that Russia pays fair reparations to Ukraine and Ukrainians.
