In the heart of the Eastern Sussex, near Ukfield (Great Britain), a real architectural giant is hidden - the Hamilton Palace, which even exceeds the Buckingham Palace in size. However, instead of greatness and luxury, this mansion has been oblivious for more than 40 years, attracting attention not by historical heritage, but by desolation and antisocial behavior in its environs. About this writes The Mirror.

The construction of a palace worth ? 40 million began with the ambitious plans of its owner, real estate magnate Nicolas Van Hoogstraten. The mansion should have been accommodated by his rich art collections, as well as personal mausoleum by a small lake. However, in 1985, the work was stopped, and since then the building turned into a sad reminder of unfulfilled dreams.

Despite the fact that the house is surrounded by a dense forest, it is not easy to approach it: the perimeter is surrounded by warning signs, and the mansion itself acquired the name " To date, it remains an empty shell, and there are no signs that it will ever become residential again.

The history of the owner of the Hamilton Palace is as contradictory as the fate of his property. In 2002, Hoogstraten was convicted of the unintentional murder of the former business competitor Mohammed Raja, but later his sentence was canceled, and he was released. Nevertheless, he was forced to pay the Raja family compensation in the amount of ? 6 million. Earlier, in 1968, he already went to prison for organizing a rabbi’s house, whose son owed his money, and in the next decades he was repeatedly involved in trial for threats and disrespect for the law.

Despite the huge funds invested in the estate, he was never brought to mind. Videos made from the drone in 2022 show the destroyed walls, overgrown with foliage construction forests and containers scattered around the territory. Mr. Van Hoogststrata repeatedly stated that the completion of construction is not his priority, which leaves the Hamilton palace with an abandoned monument of unrealized ambitions.

The publication notes that the residents of the surroundings are concerned about what is happening around the estate, claiming that it became a nursery of antisocial behavior. The authorities are not yet taking measures to restore or demolish the building.

Focus previously reported that the couple sold a large house and built a unique village on the seashore.

After traveling to the Sylvia and Eric Hawkins autofurg, they decided to realize their old dream. They purchased a plot of 4 Akra and turned it into a cozy camping with small houses.

It also became known that the spouses sold a house on the seashore to live in a small boat. Ula and Josh conducted a tour of their house and shared the experience of life on the water. They showed how their unique housing was conveniently and rationally organized, and also talked about the difficulties that they had to encounter.
