Expensible driver’s licenses in Ukraine can be used until the end of the war and, accordingly, get behind the wheel with them. However, there is an important nuance - this rule is valid only if the validity of the document has expired after the introduction of martial law.

This is stated in the explanation of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of the Interior (HSC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) of Ukraine. "

It is noted that such a document can be replaced after the cancellation of martial law in the country. To do this, contact the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

At the same time, if the certificate has expired until February 2022, or if the driver has a paper laminated certificate, he is still advised to exchange it. The same applies to documents issued before 2013, which are not displayed in.

To exchange a driver’s license, you need to take with you a passport of a citizen of Ukraine with a note on registration of a place of residence or ID card along with an excerpt about a place of residence. It is also necessary to provide a copy of the registration card of the taxpayer account, the old certificate, to exchange, and a medical certificate.

At the same time, during the period of martial law, a medical certificate is not mandatory. Passport, an extract about the place of residence and the tax number can be presented in electronic form through the application.

You do not need to print the photo in advance, it will be taken free on the spot when submitting documents. .

The exchange cost is 572 UAH, but this is excluding the banking commission. After receiving a new document, it will immediately be displayed in the DIY app and in the driver's office.

In some cases, replacing the old certificate is possible even without a visit to the service center - just use the application. This is especially useful for drivers living in remote regions or unable to personally contact the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, for the successful exchange of a document, it is necessary that updated personal data are available in the registry, including photos. If there is no digitized photo in the database, the system will not be able to confirm the identity of the driver and the exchange process will not be completed.

It should also be borne in mind that the driver can only have one current certificate. In the manufacture of a new document, the old one automatically ceases to act.

We also note that until March 29, 2011, the duration of their validity was not indicated in the driver’s licenses, while new certificates are issued with the period of “fitness” of 30 years. In the case of driver’s licenses issued for the first time, the validity period is only 2 years, after which the update is required.
