The 29-year-old producer-freelanger from London (Great Britain) Shannon Lane managed to significantly reduce her monthly expenses, moving to live on a narrow-fuselage boat. However, despite significant savings, the woman faced some difficulties. About this writes The Sun.

While the average rent for a two -room apartment in the area is 1,600 pounds, Shannon spends only 350 pounds a month, including utility bills.

The British has long been looking for a more affordable housing option that would provide comfort to her and her pug named Gilbert. In October 2022, she accidentally stumbled upon an announcement on the sale of a 30-foot boat worth ? 24,000. The decision was easy for her: taking a loan, she moved to a new house in January 2023.

Since then, her life has changed dramatically. The girl admits that after moving her mental health has improved significantly, because the anxiety and depression, from which she suffered earlier, practically disappeared.

However, the winter cold brought unexpected difficulties. In one of her recent videos in Tiktok, Shannon shared that frosts turn water into her house into ice. Even a cup of tea, left in the sink, froze so much that the drink fell in the form of an ice circle.

She also showed a frozen channel through which her boat moves, and admitted that last winter she seriously thought to abandon such a way of life.

Despite difficulties, Shannon is sure that her decision was correct. Previously, she paid 900 pounds for the room in the apartment, and then the landlord raised the price to 1000 pounds. Moving to the boat allowed her not only to find her own housing, but also to significantly reduce expenses. However, the British notes that life on the water was more complicated than she expected. She needed to learn to control the boat, deal with water supply and waste disposal.

Despite all the difficulties, Shannon enjoys the freedom that life gives on the water. She especially loves summer when she can travel where she wants, and her family, who at first doubted her decision, now trusts her choice.

“This is my life and I'm happy,” she summed up.

Previously, the focus reported that the family bought a house in another country without examining it.

Buying new housing turned into an endless repair, stress and financial problems. It took 5 years, a dozen workers and two contractors to bring the house to mind.

It also became known that the spouses sold a house on the seashore to live in a small boat. Ula and Josh conducted a tour of their house and shared the experience of life on the water. They showed how their unique housing was conveniently and rationally organized, and also talked about the difficulties that they had to encounter.
