The board game La Famiglia, imitating the war of mafia clans in the 1980s in Sicily, outraged the Italian government. This is stated in a letter from the Italian ambassador in Germany Fabrizio Buchchi for the editorial office of the Baldoid Bild.

In the German board game La Famiglia (family), players lead competing mafia clans on the island of Sicily. In the process you can blow up your enemies.

Relatives of the Italians killed by the mafia criticized a new game, the Italian government also expressed dissatisfaction. Sicilian politicians insist that sales of the Italian version of the game cease.

"

A frivolous attitude towards the mafia, according to the diplomat, is a double dangerous. Firstly, this poses a threat to complicated questions to superficial and stereotypical ideas, and secondly, it offends the feelings of people who are trying to overcome the mafia every day and sometimes give their lives for this.

The Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera gives the outraged reaction of the sister of the magistrate Giovanni Falcone, killed by the mafia in 1992.

" You play on the feelings of those who gave their lives to the service of the state. The mafia caused Sicily as much suffering as the whole of Italy. Such a game offends the memory of people who contributed to the liberation of this land, ”she said.

The Buchchi ambassador added that in young generations it is necessary to awaken not the glorification of criminals, but a civil courage to combat criminal organizations.

The creator of the game Maximilian Til expressed regret about the reaction of people to his creation.

" It has never been and will not be my goal, ”he said.

Recall that the police in Italy arrested a Catholic nun suspected of a number of crimes related to the mafia. She is charged with combination and incitement to extorting, drug trafficking, money laundering and other acts.

Focus previously wrote about the detention of the leader of the Italian mafia Marco Radoano in France. He escaped from prison on the island of Sardinia in February 2023 with the help of a sheet.
