In Britain, put into circulation a new plastic five pound note to Churchill

In England and Wales put into circulation a new plastic five pound note. On the front side of the banknote depicts Queen Elizabeth II, on the back - former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

Next to the portrait of Churchill is located on the banknote passage from his speech in the House of Commons, delivered on 7 May 1940: "I have nothing to offer the (British), but blood, toil, tears and sweat".

While the new plastic bill is not available at all ATMs and bank branches. Initially it will be available at ATMs in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Hull and Cardiff. Most bank branches will bill for the coming week.

Since March 2015, plastic banknotes have appeared in Scotland. In Northern Ireland, the first plastic money were issued in October 1999. To mark the beginning of the new millennium, two million of these notes have been released into circulation.



Governor of the Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said that the new banknote will be cleaner, safer and more wear-resistant.

However, this does not mean that the bill can not be damaged. But the Bank of England assured that it will be harder to fake.

Old paper five pound bill will be in circulation until May 5, 2017.

In total 440 million new "fives" were published.

Within the next year also will be a new plastic banknote 10 pounds, dedicated to Jane Austen's, and by 2020 will be "twenty" with the artist William Turner. It is reported by BBC.
