Physicians from Copenhagen University have discovered a cheap method of manufacturing personalized medicines. The new technology allows you to put on the edible basis QR code from the "ink", containing the necessary dose of medication. Using a unique pattern will also protect the pills from fakes. A group of doctors from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), together with colleagues from the Academy of Abo (Finland), have discovered a new method for producing medicines. Scientists propose to apply a unique QR code to the edible base. For printing, a conventional inkjet printer is suitable, in which special biochernil containing active medicinal substances. Print drugs will be medical institutions or pharmacies, and not in advance and in large batches, but individually according to the requirements of patients. The creators of technology hope that in the coming years, drugs can be printed on virtually any printer. For each patient, the barcode will be selected individually, depending on the amount of substances needed. Such a method will reduce the risk of side effects due to an incorrectly selected dosage. Also, scientists hope that QR-codes will protect patients from counterfeiting. Any smartphone owner will be able to verify the barcode in the application and make sure the authenticity of the medicine. With the help of tablets with code scientists are going to fight and with erroneous appointments.
In some cases, pharmacists confuse similar drug names and sometimes sell inappropriate medicine. Before taking the drug with a QR-code, the patient will have the opportunity to check what exactly it takes. Doctors will also be able to check which medications have been prescribed for patients and for which they were discharged. All QR-codes will be registered and when checking the barcode it will be possible to find out in whose name the preparation is written out.
