Education Minister Liliya Grinevich signed an order canceling the activities of parents' committees in schools, the ministry said in response to a request from public activist Vitaly Furmanyuk. The order, dated December 21, 2017, repeals the decree of June 2, 2004 "On Approving the Model Provisions on Parent Committees (Councils)".

This document provided that the parent committee is subordinate and accountable to the general school parent meeting and is elected for a year. "It is the decisions of the" parent committees "of the administration that justify the collection of unaccounted cash, the hiring of protection and even the expulsion of children from institutions," wrote Furmanyuk in Facebook. Parent committees were abolished in accordance with the new law "On Education".
