Motorcycle enthusiast Hideo Tsurumaki observed the consequences of the devastating tsunami in Japan in March 2011. Those who tried to escape in the cars carried away to the sea. He retired from Toyota and decided to collect a floating electric vehicle. The idea has grasped it for many years and is now close to the incarnation, writes Bloomberg. Cars have long learned to swim: these technologies are used by the military, and spectacular floating concepts are regular participants of the show at motor shows in different parts of the world. Tsurumaki established a company with an authorized capital of $ 1800 and began his experiments in the garage - there he ate and slept. Soon he realized that it would be a difficult task to make an electric vehicle suitable for everyday use with such functionality.. Nevertheless, over a couple of years he managed to create a small-scale Fomm electric vehicle suitable for mass production, find financing and even rent a factory in Thailand, where he hopes to produce up to 10,000 electric amphibians per year.
The inventor says that his goal is a full-fledged electric car, which will become the second car for the urban family. And, perhaps, one day its members will be saved: "I intend to put one at my house. Many, I think, will decide the same way ". Fomm travels up to 160 km on one charge, speeding up to 80 km / h, and replaceable batteries save the owner time.
