American company Ossia received the prize for the best innovative product for a smart home at the Consumer Electronics Show CES. The award was awarded for the device Forever Battery - finger batteries, which can be charged wirelessly at a distance of 10 m. While the batteries are designed for remotes and home sensors, but soon the company plans to develop a model for smartphones. Under the shell of the usual, at first glance, AA batteries from Ossia hides a mini-antenna. With its help, the batteries communicate with the Cota transmitter at a distance of up to 10 m. As explained by Gizmodo, the transmitter sends a radio signal to the antenna, which feeds the batteries with electricity. In terms of size, power and form factor, Forever Battery batteries do not differ from conventional finger batteries. They can be inserted into any compatible device, for example, in a control panel or a smoke detector. To recharge, you only need a Cota transmitter, which developers compare to a Wi-Fi router - the system can stand in any part of the room and transmit signals at a distance, avoiding obstacles. Every year more than 3 billion batteries are thrown out in the USA. The development of Ossia eliminates the need for owners to constantly change batteries and simplifies the recharging process. In addition, Forever Battery turns conventional devices into smart. A battery-powered gadget is automatically displayed in the Cota application and on the Cota Cloud online platform. Users can connect devices to each other, and also monitor their charge level. At the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show CES 2018, the company won the award for Best Innovative Product. Ossia becomes the prize-winner of the exhibition for the third year already.

In 2016, companies were awarded the award for the Cota wireless charging system, and in 2017 - for the transmitter in the form of ceiling tiles Cota Tile. Previously, the company also introduced a smartphone case with an integrated antenna, which allows you to recharge the device wirelessly. However, now Ossia plans to conclude cooperation with manufacturers of smartphones and produce devices with already built-in batteries based on Forever Battery technology.
