Shenzhen, a metropolis in the southeast of China with 12 million people, completed the transfer of ground public transport to electric traction - no city bus now does not pollute the air. The reform of municipal transport in Shenzhen was completed on schedule and all 16,359 buses are now traveling by electricity, not by diesel fuel - a significant achievement for such a large city. Shenzhen is considered the Silicon Valley of China - here are the headquarters of major Internet companies, many start-ups and representative offices of China's largest electric power producer - BYD. Now, over the year, Shenzhen's buses will save 345,000 tons of fuel and will reduce the emission of carbon dioxide by 1.35 million tons. Electric taxis will save 116 thousand tons of fuel a year and reduce CO2 emissions by 454 tons. The implementation of the pilot program for the transition to clean public transport began in 2009, when Shenzhen was selected among the thirteen participating cities. Since then, the metropolis has taken active measures to electrify the bus and taxi fleet.

In 2017 city authorities allocated subsidies for the purchase of electric buses and charging stations in the amount of $ 430 million. Such a large fleet of electric buses requires extensive infrastructure. Now in Shenzhen 510 charging stations operate with a total number of charging points equal to 8000, so that simultaneously the city can charge almost half of its electric buses. To fill the battery, it takes about 2 hours, one day this point can serve up to 300 electric buses, reports Gas2.
