Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine should raise the status of vocational education in society. This is a strategic task, said Deputy Minister of Education and Science Pavel Hobzey. The labor market needs workers. Among the claimed professions in the labor market are welders, turners, carpenters, engineers, cooks and waiters. "There are myths that in working specialties they pay little. But now in the sphere of some working professions they pay more than specialists with higher education can get. For example, in the capital, a turner of the sixth grade can receive up to 25,000 hryvnia a month. Drivers, depending on the category, 10 000. Now the average salary at large powerful enterprises can be 15,000 hryvnia, "- says Deputy Chairman of the State Employment Service Sergei Kravchenko. According to the expert, the labor market requires new approaches in training. Education does not have time for employers, and graduates lack the practical skills. "Education does not keep pace with changes in the labor market. Students lack practical skills. In the countries of the European Union, students have to work as much in the enterprise every month, except for 30 hours in a university. There practice is connected with theory.

Now in our universities is a specialty "Manager of hotel and restaurant business". It is difficult for graduates to find a job. The student is not interesting for the employer, since he does not know the fundamentals of the profession. He does not know how to fold the napkins or serve the table. We hardly learn this. In universities, the theoretical side prevails even on such practical specialties, "says Sergei Kravchenko.
