NVIDIA intends to push the industry to abandon 32-bit operating systems. Recall that with the release of iOS 11, Apple stopped supporting 32-bit applications. The same way by 2019 it intends to make Google on Android. NVIDIA followed the same path, announcing that its video cards are now oriented only to 64-bit versions of Windows. The manufacturer's website says that the new graphics drivers GeForce WHQL after the 390th version will not support 32-bit operating systems.
It's not just about Windows 7, 8 and 10, but also about Linux and FreeBSD. Moreover, even GeForce WHQL 390 will no longer include any new functions for 32-bit systems. The manufacturer understands that the transition takes time, so until January 2019 will issue critical fixes for obsolete versions of the OS. It should be noted that on Steam among all registered users of Windows 7, 8 and 10, only 2% have a 32-bit version.
