Scientists from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, have developed an algorithm that won nearly $ 2 million in one of the varieties of poker. This is written by Espresso TV with reference to EurekAlert. Program Libratus won the four best professional players in no-limit Texas Holdem. It is reported that the algorithm used a three-way approach to account for hidden information (card suits), which allowed him to win. AI, as stated by the developers, can distinguish common features in various combinations of cards, bets and other elements of the game, and consider them roughly the same version of the development of events. This allows you to save resources and make the game easier for the machine, finding simple solutions for the most obvious combinations of cards and options for opponent moves. "The techniques that we developed when creating this artificial intelligence system are not specific to poker, they can be used in any situation where there is no complete information for decision-making," said Noah Brown from the Carnegie Mellon University.

Libratus itself consists of three modules. The first module calculates the so-called abstraction of the game, calculating the relationships between rates and combinations, allows you to form a primary, coarse strategy. The second - changes the strategy depending on the actions of the enemy, correcting the initial. The third improves the strategy during the game.
