EBRD will give money to Kremenchug for energy-saving projects

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide EUR6 million loan to the municipal enterprise Kremenchug Municipal Energy Service Company for energy-saving projects in 38 kindergartens, 23 schools and five hospitals. Anton Usov, EBRD Senior Advisor, said that the Board of Directors adopted such decision on December 14 within the framework of the simultaneously approved framework of the Ukraine Public Sector Energy Efficiency Framework (PSEEF). According to the documents on the bank's website, the total amount of this program is EUR100 million. "However, each project within its framework will be separately submitted to the Board of Directors for approval," explained A. Mustache. It is assumed that municipal companies will direct the received funds to finance energy-saving improvements in public buildings and street lighting infrastructure.

Feasibility study (feasibility study) covering technical, environmental and social expertise of municipal energy management companies and cities in the pre-signing stage, estimated at an average of EUR0.2 million per year, will be provided by the Government of Sweden. It will additionally allocate EUR1.25 million of technical assistance at the stage after signing the projects. The project in Kremenchug is supposed to reduce energy costs to 50%, reduce its annual consumption by about 20 thousand. MWh, as well as carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere by 5,300. tons.
