The Verkhovna Rada is discussing whether it is necessary to make school meals compulsory for all schoolchildren. At the same time, the biggest problem is the financing of such an initiative - free food at the expense of the state budget for all students has long been canceled. This is reported by "Today". So, in connection with the current resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 16 of January 18, 2016. , the right to free meals in schools has: orphans;

children who are deprived of parental care; children with special educational needs who study in special and inclusive classes; pupils of 1-4 grades from low-income families. Earlier in the day, absolutely all the pupils of junior classes could eat free of charge, but now such decisions are made by the local authorities at their own discretion. Free meals now provide more than 1.5 million children, t. 40.7% of pupils.
