Fifty cats and half a thousand dogs are lost or abandoned pets now living in the Kharkiv Animal Welfare Center.
The center is almost full, says its press secretary Olga Golubeva, Suspіlna reports..
According to her, since the beginning of a full-scale war, the number of only stray dogs in Kharkov has tripled..
Most of the animals that have been on the street since February 24 were domestic, says Golubovskaya. Animals have little chance of surviving in the street: they are not adapted to get their own food, they can get injured by a projectile or explode on a mine.
The shelter is now almost full: it houses half a thousand animals.
