Thousands of cars with children, women and elderly people who are trying to leave the settlements of the Kherson region under Russian occupation towards the territory controlled by Ukraine are not allowed by the invaders, said Lyudmila Denisova, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada.

“Cars stop for several days, and emaciated people suffer from a lack of food, water and rest.. In addition, there is a constant danger of shelling by the occupiers.. The other day, rashists opened fire on a convoy of cars trying to leave the city.

Volunteer Anton Kushnir, who was involved in the delivery of humanitarian supplies, died from a headshot, as the front line is not far and there are constant battles,"

Denisova stressed that the actions of the military of the Russian Federation are a gross violation of Art.. 49 of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, and killings of civilians are war crimes and crimes against humanity in accordance with Art.. st. 7 and 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
