As a result of Russian shelling in Kharkov, 708 buildings were destroyed, of which more than 600 were residential multi-storey buildings.

According to the press service of the Kharkiv City Council, Mayor Igor Terekhov said this in an interview on the Ukraine 24 TV channel..

“When you drive through Kharkov now, you see a completely different city, and your heart bleeds. But now you can not give in to emotions. We need to think about how we will rebuild the city. We need to create a new look for Kharkiv, but at the same time preserve its zest,"

According to him, the historical center of the city was destroyed, including the Art Museum and the library named after. Korolenko.

Terekhov said that despite the ongoing shelling, the city authorities are already developing a plan to restart the economy, which has suffered as a result of Russian aggression..

" And I'm grateful to them for that.. But many have closed. We are at war, in constant shelling.

Therefore, after the victory, Kharkiv expects a global restart. I already think that new things should appear in terms of the economy, how to attract investors, what new production facilities will be. The war made it possible to reevaluate many things,"

He also stressed that although the majority of Kharkiv residents speak Russian, they have always considered themselves Ukrainians and are ready to defend the independence of their state to the last..
