Yesterday evening in the village of Zhobrin, Rivne region, a drunk driver lost control and flew into the fence of the local boarding house, from which two people died.

“At the scene, the police found that the driver of the Audi A6 - a 33-year-old resident, moving along Lesnaya Street in the direction of the local sanatorium, lost control and ran into the concrete arch of the institution,” the police said.

As a result of the accident, two passengers, 35-year-old residents, were seriously injured. Despite the emergency assistance provided by doctors, they died on the spot. The 33-year-old driver was not injured in the accident, however, according to a medical examination, he was drunk. Blood samples were also taken from him to determine intoxication..

A resident of Rivne was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention center.

The issue of informing him of suspicion of committing a crime under part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules, resulting in the death of two people) is being resolved.

The sanction of the article provides for from five to ten years in prison.
