Kievsky District Court of Kharkov delivered a verdict in the case of setting fire to a car on Constitution Square. The owner of the car was an official of the City Council Aleksey Bogach. This is reported by Newsroom with reference to the Unified Register of Court Decisions.
The incident occurred on May 22, 2019. Volkswagen Touareg was parked near the building of the Kharkiv City Hall. The intruder doused the windshield and hood of the car with ignition fluid. After that, a native of the Dnipropetrovsk region set fire to a car and fled from the scene. Law enforcement officers managed to detain a man only in July 2020.

The official's declaration contained a car suitable for the description, but he did not indicate its value. The court found out that the amount of damage caused was 246 thousand hryvnia.
During the trial, the defendant pleaded guilty. For deliberate damage to property by arson, the court sentenced him to three years in prison with a two-year probationary period. The man was also ordered to pay 55 thousand hryvnia for conducting examinations. At the moment, the verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed on appeal.
