On December 16, six Ukrainian sailors from the Stevia were captured by pirates off the coast of Nigeria. The case is under special control of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
This was announced by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko, informs Ukrinform.
" As a result of a pirate attack on the said ship off the coast of Nigeria on December 16, 8 crew members were captured, including 6 citizens of Ukraine, "
According to him, the shipowner is an Albanian company.. Therefore, the Ukrainian embassies in Nigeria and Albania are taking appropriate response measures.
The case is under special control of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian embassies involved, the representative of the department assured.
