Interpol specialists went to Lebanon to investigate the causes of the explosion in the port of Beirut. This is stated in a message on the website of the international police.

Earlier, Lebanese President Michel Aoun said that there are three versions of the cause of the explosion in the port of Beirut.. According to one version " It is assumed that the cause of the explosion could be a bomb or rocket. The other two versions imply negligence or accident.



On August 4, a powerful explosion occurred in the port in the city of Beirut. As a result of the tragedy, more than 5 thousand people were injured, more than 300 thousand were left homeless. According to the latest data, 154 people died. Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab said the explosion was caused by improper storage of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate. Nearby buildings, as well as those located within a radius of several kilometers from the explosion site, have broken glass, and part of the buildings have been destroyed.
