Three brothers from Bolivia allowed a black widow spider to bite them, believing that as a result, each of them will turn into Spider-Man, Fox News writes.. Now it’s known for certain that this method does not work..

Three boys were hospitalized after being bitten by a black widow during a goat grazing in a small Bolivian village, a local media report said May 25.

Children believed that a spider bite would give them superpowers, like the comic book hero Marvel Spiderman, or Spider-Man.

On May 14, boys aged 8, 10, and 12 from Chayant, a city in the Andean region of Potosi, approached the spider and pushed it with its wand, until it began to attack the guys in response. This was reported by Telemundo Virgilio Pietro,? Head of the Epidemiological Department of the Ministry of Health of Bolivia.

The first symptoms of intoxication appeared in just a few minutes. The boys' mother urgently sent them to the local medical center. Children's health did not improve, and they were transferred to a hospital in the city of Llallyagua.

When the boys failed to recover even there, they were taken to the children's hospital in La Paz with muscle pain, sweating, fever and trembling all over, explained Pietro, quoted by forumdaily.

According to Telemundo, after the introduction of serum from spider bites, the condition of children improved. May 20 they were discharged home.

The report also said that the black widow spider is usually non-aggressive if it is not intentionally provoked..
