A fire occurred at St. George's Hospital in St. Petersburg, which receives patients infected with coronavirus. 150 people managed to be evacuated from the building, however, five dead are known. The fire was on the sixth floor in the intensive care unit, it was there that the dead were, they were connected to the ventilator. The cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning.. One of the doctors suffered - poisoning by combustion products, but now his life is in danger.

The case is under the control of the Prosecutor General. Preliminary version - a fire occurred due to a short circuit in the ventilator. Mayor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and signed a decree on the payment of one million rubles to their families. The use of ventilation devices of the Ural Instrument-Making Plant is temporarily suspended. St. George's Hospital completely restored after the fire and continued to work.

The mechanical ventilation of the Ural Instrument-Making Plant caused another fire, this time on May 9 at the 50th Hospital. Spasokukotsky in Moscow. Killed a woman who was connected to a ventilator. 295 people had to be evacuated, five were rescued.

On the night of May 11, a fire occurred in the hospice " This time it all started in the sauna, the fire covered 30 square meters. It is assumed that the cause was a fault in the wiring. Nine people aged 66-90 died. Nine more had to be hospitalized, and six were sent to intensive care. Only eight people were able to leave the burning building on their own.. Rescue work was complicated by the fact that many guests of the hospice were elderly, including non-walking people. It was difficult to save them with the help of fire escape. Extinguishing involved 85 people and 25 pieces of equipment. The guests were placed in the recreation center " Searching for relatives. The fact is that the hospice was opened without the necessary permits, not all the guests had the necessary documents, although a relative of one of the guests said that the institution was cozy, well-decorated and equipped. The guests lived under good supervision, they were well fed. The daily routine is clear - meals, procedures. Three people lived in a room. At the time of the fire, 37 people were in the building, of which 29 were guests. The building was located in the cottage village " The organizer of the hospice, Dmitry Novikov, was detained, a criminal case was opened against him for the provision of services that did not meet safety requirements, which resulted in the death of two or more persons (h. 3 tbsp. 238 of the Criminal Code).

In April in Moscow there was another fire in the “Third Age” nursing home. There were more than 60 bedridden patients. The fire started due to faulty wiring in the basement.

A possible cause is the explosion of fuel vapor in the boiler room, which was located in the basement. The building was very quickly filled with smoke.. Medical staff was able to get 13 guests out of the building, another 50 people from the smoky building rescued by firefighters. An elderly patient and an electrician died. After the evacuation, 12 people were sent to the hospital, two more died there.. Age of all victims - 72-90 years. The total fire area was 300 square meters.
