Polish border service detained two citizens of Ukraine trying to smuggle a record batch of smuggled amber into the country. They confiscated more than 103 kg of “sun stone” worth about 50 thousand euros, the border service said in a statement.

In addition, 4000 packs of cigarettes worth 13 thousand euros were seized from Ukrainians.

The incident occurred on the Polish-Ukrainian border in the Lublin Voivodeship. Men managed to smuggle goods to the Polish bank of the Western Bug River.

Detainees transferred to Ukrainian border guards.

The confiscated amber batch is the largest in 2019, the Polish side noted. In addition, Poland’s border guards in the Lubelskie Voivodeship alone prevented the smuggling of cigarettes worth nearly 4 million euros.
