The shooter who slaughtered one of the nightclubs in California identified as a 28-year-old former soldier. His name was Ian David Long, and he served in the Marine Corps, said Jeff Dean, Chief of Police of the Ventura Administrative District, on Thursday, November 8, quoted by DW.

According to Dean, Long was known to the police because of minor incidents involving, among other things, a car accident and a violation of public peace.. The police visited him in April in connection with a complaint against him. At the same time, according to Dean, Long behaved "angrily" and "irrational". After that, the experts examined Long on the subject of mental adequacy and let him go..

Jeff Dean didn’t rule out that Long might have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder due to participation in hostilities.. On the night of November 8, a former marine came to one of the nightclubs in the town of Thousand Oaks near Los Angeles and opened indiscriminate shooting at the students who were there who were walking at the party. 12 people died, including a policeman, there are also wounded.

The shooter himself was eventually found dead. Motives of his actions are unknown..
