The weather forecasters say that the hurricane Florence is rapidly gaining strength over the western part of the Atlantic Ocean, and that the likelihood of its coming to the dry land on the east coast of the United States in the form of a powerful storm this week is increasing.

The National Center for Hurricane Surveillance expects that Florence will be held between Bermuda and the Bahamas on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then by the end of Thursday - the beginning of Friday will approach the US states of North Carolina and South Carolina, reports Voice of America.

According to the center's forecasts, by the time it reaches the mainland USA, Florence has grown into an "extremely dangerous powerful hurricane".

Meteorologists said they expect the transformation of Florence into a powerful hurricane "very soon". This means that he will be assigned at least a third category on the Saffir-Simpson scale used to describe the strength of hurricanes.

As of Monday morning, the wind speed within the storm reached 165 kilometers per hour, which allows it to be attributed to the second category hurricane.

Virginia, North and South Carolina have already declared a state of emergency. Authorities in more northern regions, including New Jersey, call on the inhabitants of the coast to take precautionary measures, including in the case of moving heavy rains deep into the continent.

While, according to forecasts, "Florence" will go ashore, another storm, hurricane "Isaac" will pass through the Lesser Antilles and will leave for the eastern part of the Caribbean Sea.

"Isaac" is smaller and weaker "Florence". According to the forecasts of the National Center for Hurricane Surveillance, it will weaken to a tropical storm by Friday-Saturday, when it will take place in the region of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

The third Atlantic storm, Hurricane Helen, most likely will not affect the weather on land, as it moves north over open waters.
