Four out of five suspects in an attempt to kill activist and counselor of the mayor of Kherson, Ekaterina Gandzyuk, confessed to committing a crime.
This is reported by "Ukrainian Truth" with reference to the press secretary of the police Yaroslav Trakalo.
According to him, now the investigation has preliminary established the involvement in the commission of this crime, five people.
"Their involvement in the attack on gr. Gandzyuk, according to the investigation, is confirmed both by the collected physical evidence and the evidence provided, "Trakalo notes..
He said that four of the detainees, who by the way, live in various regions of the country, confessed to the investigators that they received an offer for a monetary reward to attack Gandzyuk.
"All four gave confessions and repented of the deed," he said..
According to the speaker, this proposal allegedly came from the fifth detainee, with whom they were in military service and who was their commander.
However, according to Trakalo, the organizer himself refuses to cooperate with the investigation.
He said that the investigators point to another possible proof of the involvement of the detainees in the attack on the activist - a direct suspect in the commission of this crime during the attack could have received a chemical burn by acid, shedding it upon himself through negligence.
"This is evidenced by the corresponding trace on his body, the origin of which will now be investigated by the method of examination," - said the representative of the police.
According to him, on Wednesday, a trial began to elect him a measure of restraint, which the judge postponed until Thursday.
Trakalo also explained the situation with the previously released suspect Nikolai Novikov.
"Concerning the issuance of the decision by the prosecutor and changing the status in the production of gr. Novikov, then at that time the investigation had enough grounds for his arrest and verification of his involvement in the commission of this crime.
At the same time, the work went on in parallel and in other directions, which resulted in the detention of five suspects and their confession, "he explained..
Earlier it became known that Novikova was released from custody, and the case against him was closed.
On July 31 in Kherson, an unknown person poured a liquid from a city council employee and activist Ekaterina Gandzyuk, who turned out to be concentrated sulfuric acid.
Police consider the attack as an assassination attempt.
