The SOS signal arrived on Sunday morning from a group of tourists blocked on the Altai summit of Ak-Kem (4100) - one of the peaks of Belukha mountain. Three Kemerovo residents and one novosibirets were in trouble. A distress signal could be transmitted over a satellite phone.

Independently descend from men is not strong enough. Strong wind, rain, passing in the snow, severe physical fatigue. Usually above 2 thousand meters everything is complicated by altitude sickness, when due to a number of factors, and mainly due to hypoxia, all previously acquired diseases are complicated, the presence of which a person could not even suspect. In the mountains it's winter now. Men are fortunately not injured, they were able to build a shelter from the weather, food and gas they still have. There is also enough water - tourists are drowning ice. But the tent and most of the climbing equipment tourists lost, the tent was torn, and the equipment was blown away by a strong wind. Now on the mountain wind blows about 20 meters per second. The state of tourists is assessed as satisfactory. Send to the distressed group of rescuers, too, is not possible. The road will take at least three days, and the rain with snow and wind, the icy rock will further complicate the path. So we have to wait for the weather.

Every three hours tourists come in contact.

In general, they have the experience of mountain climbing, instructions to save heat, save energy and survive in extreme conditions, they were handed over. But to help while there is no possibility again because of weather conditions - on mountain Belukha on a mark 3300 a dense fog. And tourists are higher by 1000 meters higher, it is now clear. A helicopter Mi-8 arrived from Kemerovo to Gorno-Altaisk. So, if the weather is favorable, the helicopter can quickly travel to the location of tourists. Five rescuers are in a state of readiness.
