"In Scotland Yard believe that the attack in Salisbury with the use of nerve agents committed a group of killers of two people," reports The Sun. "Both allegedly left the United Kingdom the next morning after attempting an assassination attempt on behalf of the Kremlin," write reporters Mike Sullivan and Tom Wells. "Now, it is believed, they are in Russia under the protection of President Vladimir Putin". With reference to sources, the tabloid reports that the investigators are determined to institute criminal proceedings against the perpetrators. "The ultimate goal has always been to bring them to justice," said the unnamed interlocutor of The Sun. "Of course, since they are no longer in the UK, it becomes much more difficult".

"It is believed that there is very little likelihood that officials will soon make any major statement on the rapidly advancing investigation," reads the article. In April, there were speculations that the main suspects were identified, but the authorities quickly refuted these reports. The authors of the article remind that two suspects could be identified in the murder case of Alexander Litvinenko, but Russia responded with a refusal to all requests for their extradition.
