The version of the fire of dry grass in the zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant as a result of willful arson was not confirmed. This was reported by the head of the State Service for Emergency Situations of Ukraine Mykola Chechetkin.

"Not confirmed. Not yet, "he said in a commentary on the question of whether the version of the deliberate arson was confirmed.

At the same time, Chechetkin noted that the investigation is carried out by the National Police.

As it was reported, on the morning of June 5 in the zone of alienation and unconditional resettlement of the Chernobyl NPP a fire of dry grass occurred, followed by the spread of fire into the forest on an area of ??about 12 hectares.

As the press service of the State Emergency Situations Service informs, as of 5 pm on June 6, in the Chornobyl zone, measures are continuing to eliminate individual fires in a total area of ??about 2 hectares.

"The situation is controlled. There is no open fire, there is a smoldering of two cells of forest litter, grass, fallen trees and stumps, "- say rescuers.



The radiation background in the cities of Kiev, Chernobyl and at the ChNPP industrial site is within the limits of the norm, in particular:.

In Kiev, the radiation background is 15 microR / h (safe level - up to 30 microR / h).

In the city of Chernobyl, the radiation background is 31 mkR / h (safe level - up to 50 mcR / h).

On the industrial site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the radiation background is 51.6 microR / h (safe level - up to 140 microR / h).
