In Sumy on the morning of May 29 a woman from the Luhansk region closed in a rented apartment, took hostage to her friend's four-year-old son and threatened to cut off the child's head. Through her actions, she tried to return her own daughter from the orphanage, the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

"About 8:00 am on the special line" 101 "received a message that in the apartment of one of the high-rise buildings along Akhtyrskaya Street, a woman closed herself with her friend's son and threatened to kill him. The malefactor demands to bring her three-year-old daughter, which, according to her, a friend at night gave to the orphanage. The life of the child was threatened with real danger, "the cops said..

The police began negotiations with the woman and noted that she was in an inadequate state and the life of the child was threatened by a real danger.

Later it was found out that at night a woman drank alcohol with a friend, and then she allegedly decided to give her daughter to an orphanage.

"And today, in such an inadequate way, the woman decided to return her. Together with the psychologist I tried to calm her down with all the arguments. Was brought from the orphanage girl. The woman through the window gave us her hostage and a knife in exchange for her own child, "said deputy police chief in the Sumy region Vladimir Babich.

When the child was already on the street, psychologists continued to work with the perpetrator, and after the contact was established, the woman opened the door to the head of the psychological police service.

"She was still drunk, the apartment was scattered knives. And I'm sure that we'll be late at least an hour, tragic consequences would not be avoided. The main thing was to withdraw the second child from the apartment, because the young woman was still in an agitated and aggressive state, so she did not want to give the child, "- said Elena Kovaleva, head of the department of psychological support for the management of the personnel of the regional police.

According to the expert, during the conversation "gradually she began to calm down and trust" the interlocutor and, in the end, "agreed to give her daughter to my colleagues a policeman who assured that the child will be in good conditions under the care of educators".

Now the woman is detained. The police opened a criminal proceeding under the article "taking of hostages", which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 15 years.
