American fighter aircraft F-22 intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers. This happened in the air defense identification zone off the western coast of Alaska. This was told by the representative of the Command of the Air and Space Defense of North America, Scott Miller. It is noted that Russian aircraft entered the 200-mile zone above the Bering Sea.

They, however, did not violate the borders of the US and Canada, so there was no direct threat to these countries. The Americans nevertheless traced the aircraft until they left the air defense identification zone, reports The Washington Free Beacon. The Defense Ministry states that the bombers made a scheduled flight in the Bering and Okhotsk Sea areas. Recall, in May 2017, US aircraft intercepted Russian airliners when they approached the Aleutian Islands for a distance of 80 kilometers.
