A sharp warming, a large amount of precipitation, a stormy south-west wind with gusts up to 27 meters per second became the cause of active snowmelt, the beginning of a strong flood in the Altai. During the day the air temperature reached +8, and in the foothills even +13 degrees. The frozen ground is unable to absorb water. Already on March 23, it was necessary to limit the movement of all types of transport along a number of routes and bridges, where the overflow of meltwater was formed. The forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were put on high alert. Difficulty of slope flow of the Anuy, Aley, Peschanaya, Charysh rivers and their tributaries. On March 24, 290 homestead plots and 21 residential houses were flooded in Krasnoshchekovsky, Charyshsky and Tretyakovsky districts. Elimination of the consequences of flooding involved about 350 people and 160 units of equipment.

In the village of Stroaleiskoye, the Tretyakov District, the stadium, sports school and private houses were flooded. Residents had to be evacuated to a temporary accommodation center.

On March 24, by order of the Governor of the Altai Territory Alexander Karpin, an emergency situation was introduced in the territory of the region.

The village of Kuibyshevskoye, Krasnoshchekovsky district, has drained water from a pond where fish are bred. It is located 4 kilometers from the village in the mountains.

The water that overflowed the pond cleared the dam.

The most difficult situation arose on Sunday in the villages of Maralaha and Ust-Kozluha. In Maralah, 106 residential buildings and 420 homesteads were flooded. In Ust-Kozluh, 98 houses and 150 household plots were flooded.

Currently, 12 temporary accommodation facilities are equipped, ready to accept almost 1100 people. Nearly 40 people have already been evacuated from the villages of Maralaha and Ust-Kozlukha. Many people move to relatives.
