Most of the dead Ukrainians are so-called "walruses". People continue to ignore the elementary rules of behavior on ice in the winter. So, because of the ever-changing temperature of the air, on rivers and lakes the ice cover constantly changes its thickness, it is impossible to establish the exact thickness of the ice.

Rescuers recommend Ukrainians do not engage in "walrus" alone or in the dark, do not check the ice for strength and do not step on it without the need. Now rescuers are sent to preventive raids by frozen rivers and lakes to conduct briefings for everyone and control fishermen who often fish in forbidden places, which greatly complicates the work of rescuers.
