The vessel belongs to a company that is registered in Panama. Marine Express transported about 13.5 thousand tons of fuel for a total cost of eight million dollars. On board was a crew of 22 Indian sailors, the last time they were able to contact the port of Benin in Cotonou.

At the moment, two versions of the tanker's disappearance are considered:

first, the ship could simply sink due to deterioration in climatic conditions, but this would be immediately noticed by the shore service; secondly, the ship could be seized by pirates who are operating in this water area. Any reports from the crew about their capture into captivity and the amount of ransom were not received.

Now Indian rescuers continue searching for a tanker.

As reported in the "URA-Inform", previously a Russian ship with dozens of people disappeared in the Sea of ??Japan.
