The car crashed into the crowd near the Copacabana beach in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro, an eight-month-old girl was killed, at least 16 others were injured, reports ABC.
Traumatized pedestrians were hospitalized.
The car that was driving along the highway turned sharply and left the wide promenade of Avenida Atlantic, located between the beach and the road. As a result, the car stopped, stuck in the sand.
According to the police, the incident is not a terrorist act.
The driver of the car said that he did not drink alcohol before driving. According to him, he lost control of the car because of an epileptic seizure. Currently he is in custody.
