Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine have detained an agent of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation in the Cherkassy region, the SBU press center reported..

Operatives of the special services established that a native of Samara, lived for a long time in the territory of the Cherkasy region and received Ukrainian citizenship, was recruited back in 1996 by the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.

With the beginning of Russian aggression curators have set the agent the task of becoming a member of socio-political structures of a patriotic direction.

Employees of the Security Council of Ukraine documented that the attacker carried out subversive activities in Kiev and the Cherkasy region.

The information was sent by the agent to Russian special services.

With the outbreak of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, he also recruited mercenaries to participate in hostilities on the side of terrorist organizations "D / LNR".



Counterintelligence officers of the SBU detained the agent during the special operation. During a search at his place of residence law enforcement officers found mobile devices with contacts of curators and computer equipment with evidence of information transfer to the special services of the Russian Federation.

The detainee was informed about the suspicion of committing a crime. 1 st. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Pre-trial investigation continues.
