Ukraine has generated sufficient gas reserves in its storage facilities, so even a possible restriction of gas imports due to the explosion in the Baumgarten hub in Austria will not affect Ukrainian consumers.

This was said by the chairman of the board of NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine Andrei Kobolev, commenting on the report on the accident at the Austrian gas station.

"The explosion at the Baumgarten gas pumping station will not affect the supply of gas to Ukrainian consumers," said Kobolev, his press service quotes Naftogaz on Facebook.

According to him, this year Naftogaz pumped very large volumes of gas into the Ukrainian underground gas storage (UGS), 15% more than last year. Therefore, these reserves are sufficient to ensure that this situation does not negatively affect Ukraine.

"That is, even if we temporarily stop or restrict gas supplies from the European direction, we have the opportunity to increase the gas withdrawal from UGS for Ukrainian consumers," he said..

As Kobolev emphasized, Naftogaz "remains in touch" with its European counterparts in this situation.

Naftogaz also expressed condolences to the victims of the accident.

Recall that on the afternoon of December 12 at the gas pipeline in Baumgarten there was an explosion, there is a deceased and dozens of victims.

Baumgarten is one of the most important natural gas hubs in Europe - the gas distribution center is among the three largest in Europe. Annually, the station sends 40 billion cubic meters of gas. m of natural gas for Austria and Europe. The length of the pipeline in Austria is 2 thousand. km.

Ukraine, and, in particular, Naftogaz, also buys gas at this point.
