A case of botulism has been registered in Kharkiv. This was reported in the Kharkiv regional laboratory center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The first symptoms of the disease appeared in men 15 hours after eating the product. He was hospitalized in a regional clinical infectious hospital in a serious condition and connected to an apparatus for artificial ventilation.
The diagnosis of "botulism" is confirmed laboratory by results of studies of blood and fish residues. The patient was given a monovalent anti-butulinic serum of types A, B, E.
To date, the patient's condition remains severe, reports the Chief.
Botulism is an acute toxic infection caused by a stick of Clostridium botulinum contained in improperly prepared canned food.
The main way of transmission of the disease is food, very often it is due to the consumption of food preserved at home. The most common diseases are those associated with the consumption of home-made canned mushrooms, smoked or dried fish, meat and sausage products, bean cans. These products cause group, "family" outbreaks of diseases.
