Passenger transport was sent from the capital of Bogota to the town of Villavincencio. In total there were 18 tourists on the bus, they were all relatives. Law enforcers claim that the cause of the accident was the technical malfunction of transport, which fell into the gorge from a height of 150 meters. As a result of the fall, three people died on the spot, another 15 were hospitalized with severe injuries.

Earlier a similar incident occurred in Iran, where a bus with passengers lost control and fell into a ravine, killing 11 people.
